A Platform to Provide Innovative Products in Financial Services
Working closely with Red Hat and the local partner, Prodevans Consulting, the activities during design and implementation helped Exide Life to set up a secure, reliable & resilient Infrastructure that can protect the company’s and customer data. In addition, the scalable and stable platform will allow Exide Life to provide its customers greater access to innovative financial services more easily than ever before.
Increasing Application Footprint
After this initial success, Exide Life intends to deploy several other applications to leverage the container platform to the fullest. While doing so the company wants to adopt the best practices to make the container platform secure for developers, staff & customers alike. The classroom based training provided by Red Hat will re-inforce the understanding and help make the teams capable of providing an industry standard in house support to the platform as the workloads gain traction in Production.
Improved Agility & Faster Time to Market
With the applications being more modular and running as containers on the OpenShift platform, Exide Life can now make changes in hours (rather than days) and quickly propagate them to other environments. With this kind of responsiveness, the company is now more prepared to absorb the regulatory changes and respond with confidence without losing time. Much of this improvement is due to the deployment pipelines customized and made available to the developers & Operations teams. Not only is the process much smoother than before, it is also more transparent involving fewer touchpoints and minimal manual intervention
Rapid Delivery through a Flexible Platform
Exide LIfe’s IT Organization, while evaluating vendors, decided to adopt a solution that eases the process of building, deploying and managing its services. With an existing license on RHEL, Exide Life chose to engage Red Hat to deploy OpenShift 4.2 platform on their existing VMWare Infrastructure. Being the first ever such implementation anywhere in India, the decision came with its own challenges. Facing teething problems, the teams persevered to overcome the problems and stand up the cluster in Dev Test within a few weeks. After a quick pilot test, Exide Life deployed one of its most critical customer facing applications onto to the container platform. The application had more than 13 modules all of which had to work in tandem to provide the functionality. There were also integrations with the database layers, security tokens— all of which when deployed, worked without a hitch on OpenShift. With this learning under their belt, the team setup the UAT environment in no time. Exide life is now considering moving several other applications from their product portfolio onto OpenShift.
